person, not a project

Focused on the end goal,
I seldom had fun,

aiming for perfection,

then wallowing in sorrow when I fail,

was my story.

we treat life like a project,

constantly trying to better ourselves,

if failing, trying to get past that failure,

if slapped, slapping back,

but not letting ourselves relish the pain of the slap,

not letting us accept the failure,

not letting us live in the moment,

we choose to do that knowingly or unknowingly,

life is a game,

enjoy it, grow yourself along the way,

don’t try to be a grown-up and try to play optimally,

what’s the fun in that?

be unwittingly witty,

sad yet joyful,

angry yet calm,

remember,

you’re a person, not a project

The inspiration for this poem came from a video by ‘Profound Pondering’…. Sometimes we are so focused on this and that, bettering ourselves and what not that we don’t stop and look at the bigger picture which is life…. Here’s a reminder to do so. That’s all.
