At the pier, waiting for apologies

Im writing a poem on the whim today, hope you like it <3. This is not an original idea, I stumbled across this on Instagram. Theres this account which shares poetry prompts (@theguelphpoet)

I stand at the pier, waiting for your apology,

I hope they will come to me, one day,

As the waves come to the shore,

As the moon returns to the horizon,

And the sun takes upon the mantle of duty,

I wait for your apologies,

But they never come.

You said you’d meet me here at sunrise,

So here I am, right on time,

The pleasant sound of the waves,

Act as background music,

To the storm in my mind,

To the perils of my heart, caused by you.

I know you wont come to give me your apologies,

But all the same,

I still wait for you,

At the pier.

Thank you <3
