Introduction
What are emotions?
As google describes it, they are the feelings like happiness, sadness, fear, joy, or pain depending on the situation you are in or the people you are with.
We experience happiness after watching a beautiful sunset, we experience pain after going through a break-up. Those are emotions
Emotions and validity
You feeling angry after a fight is valid, but you shouting at someone, or hitting someone who has not done anything to you is not valid… You hurt people like this, you make them feel as if, if they are near you when you are angry, you are bound to hurt them.
Your emotion of grief is valid, but your behavior of pushing everyone away is not. It is extremely selfish, but the people we push away do not say anything as they feel as if you have earnt your selfishness.
Falling in love with a person is valid, but staying with them after realising they do not deserve your love is not. It is more like staying with a dog who is loyal to another master.
You need to have awareness dear reader, awareness that, your emotions are valid, your shitty behavior is not. End of story…
A rather long conclusion
I’d like to conclude with saying that be smart with your emotions dear reader, think twice, think thrice if you have to, but don’t do the mistake of not thinking at all. Overthinking on what you are going to do or say is not as bad as just being blunt and ending up hurting someone… We promote the idea of being blunt or being ‘real’ as if that is the best thing to do… On some cases it works, but in others it is just plain rude.
It is as if, you do not believe in them and don’t care about their feelings…. Telling a fat person that you are fat and you should lose weight is good advice, but telling the same fat person something mean about them is just being blunt, rude and immature…
(This was a rather long conclusion now that I notice.) Do check out the link I have added below, as that is the link to my substack where I post long essays about stuff, and I think you will enjoy that..
